James Halliday reviews the 2006 Patricia Noble Riesling

[Sat 4 July 2009]

2006 BROWN BROTHERS
PATRICIA NOBLE RIESLING
Brown Brothers was the first winery to commercially (and consistently) exploit botrytis-affected grapes, making the first vintage of Noble
Riesling (then called Spatlese Riesling) in 1962. Bright gold, it has an intensity of flavour which
explains why it has such an armada of gold medals and trophies; the lower alcohol than traditional Australian styles (though not German) and citrusy acidity are the keys to a wonderful wine.
