Innovative Queensland-only sparkling hits shelves

[Mon 18 January 2010]

Brown Brothers has taken one of the world’s most innovative grape varieties and produced a hot new sparkling wine exclusively for Queensland-based wine lovers.

Brown Brothers Cienna Rosso is a full sparkling version of its popular Cienna wine and, after a successful trial at Cellar Door, is now available in independent outlets throughout Queensland as part of a broader trial.

Exclusive to Brown Brothers, Cienna is a truly unique new world grape variety, bred in Australia by the CSIRO from crossing Cabernet Sauvignon with Sumoll - a little known Spanish varietal.

The result is a fresh and fruity sparkling wine with aromas of raspberries and strawberries and a creamy palate boasting plenty of natural acidity and juicy flavours reminiscent of summer berries in a glass.

“We sell more fruity sparkling wine in the sunshine state than anywhere else in the country, so we are really excited that Queenslanders will be among the first to try Cienna Rosso,” said Brown Brothers CEO, Ross Brown.

“Some of our best loved wines like Dolcetto & Syrah, Moscato and Pinot Grigio were all trialed at our Cellar Door and were further developed based on customer feedback.”

“In some ways Queensland will be like one big Cellar Door for Cienna Rosso and it will be fascinating to see how well it is received by those looking for a lively, vibrant, rich and fruity sparkling wine,” he added.

Brown Brothers Cienna Rosso is available now exclusively in independent retail outlets throughout Queensland and at Brown Brothers Cellar Door. RRP $16.50.
